Advising by Level

Undergraduate Advising

Undergraduate students at the Webster Groves campus will be assigned a Faculty Advisor. Undergraduates taking online courses or at other campus locations will be assigned a professional advisor with the Academic Advising Center.

The Undergraduate Advising Team in the Academic Advising Center provides advising to new and transfer students, exploratory students, online students, students at the military campuses, and students on academic probation.

Undergraduate advisors also assist undergraduates with topics such as the Global Citizenship Program, elective course selection, graduation checks, minors, certificates and changing majors.

UNDERGRADUATE RESOURCES

Graduate Advising

Upon acceptance to most University graduate programs, students should schedule an appointment with their academic advisor to discuss their academic plans and to get registered.

The Graduate Advising Team in the Academic Advising Center advises students in both fully online and campus-based degree programs from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and Health, School of Communications, and Walker School of Business and Technology across the U.S.

Graduate students in specialized programs, such as Counseling, Nursing or Nurse Anesthesia, programs in the School of Education, programs in the College of Fine Arts, or doctoral programs should contact their program representatives directly.

New students are required to meet with an academic advisor to begin degree planning and initial registration. Advisors can also help if you are experiencing academic difficulty, need assistance with course sequencing and registration, have questions about your academic goals and electives, or need assistance dropping or withdrawing from a course.

The earlier the better! You can register for the Spring terms/semester typically in October, and the Summer and Fall terms/semester typically in April. To ensure you get the courses you need for your program, plan to register when registration opens. It鈥檚 always a good idea to connect with your advisor to discuss planning prior to registration.

All new students need to meet with an advisor to register for their initial courses. After that, students are encouraged to register on their own through , but consult with your advisor as necessary to ensure you are on track. Additionally, if you are experiencing academic difficulty, need assistance with course sequencing and registration, have questions about your academic goals and electives, have an advising hold, or need assistance dropping or withdrawing from a course, you should contact your academic advisor

You may be administratively dropped. Please follow-up with your advisor as it may impact what you are taking the following term. Online students are encouraged to log in the weekend prior to the class starting to access and review course materials. Then actively engage in the course on a regular (daily) basis to stay on top of course expectations and requirements.
